For publishers, store-owners, librarians, and all booklovers of the world, the annual national Book Expo is the event of the year. Booths upon booths of books upon books fill the Javits Center in New York, NY to the brim, with powerhouses like Penguin Random House and HarperCollins to the major independent publishers like TCG Books. At the center of it all, the TCG Books booth was abuzz with its own world of excitement for the theatre-reading crowd, offering a full schedule of signings with some of the most exciting playwrights currently on stage.

First up — on the morning of June 1 — was none other than two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage, whose play Sweat is currently running on Broadway, having won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and earned three Tony Award nominations including Best Play.

Even more Tony Award nominees arrived in the afternoon: Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Steven Levenson – who together make up the writing team of the massively popular new musical Dear Evan Hansen, nominated for a whopping nine awards this season including Best Musical. To be sure, 200 copies of the book were stocked for the occasion — but all were gone within just hours!

The following day, the booth was ready for the first morning signing, with the Queen of Off Broadway herself, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker. Annie signed copies of her hit play, John, which ran at Signature Theatre in 2015. Her currently running mind-bender The Antipodes, will be published by TCG next year.

Last but very much not least, the TCG Books booth welcomed J.T. Rogers, playwright of the Tony Award-nominated Oslo, up for seven awards including Best Play. If you missed out at the Book Expo, be sure to stay tuned for more book event news regarding a signing with J.T. and award-winning director Bartlett Sher later this month!
