TCG National Conference 2019: Miami from Theatre Communications Group on Vimeo.

For over 50 years, TCG has existed to strengthen, nurture, and promote the professional, not-for-profit American theatre.

Your Support:

  • Provides scholarships to leaders of color at various stages of their careers to participate in TCG’s networking and leadership-building experiences, such as the National Conference and Fall Forum on Governance.

  • Funds TCG’s field-wide research and surveys to assess the changing needs and conditions of the theatre community and to chronicle the health and vitality of the sector.

  • Generates responsive and impactful multi-year grant-making for theatres and professional development programs for multi-generational leadership development. TCG’s grants approximately $2 million per year to member theatres and individual artists.

  • Dispatches national advocacy alerts, which encourage TCG members to communicate with their Representatives about issues that impact professional nonprofit arts organizations.

  • Advances TCG’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiative to create a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive community.

  • Builds bridges among theatres, veterans, and active military personnel through our Blue Star Theatre program.

  • Ensures that new literary voices are published, distributed, and remain in print by TCG Books, which now represents over 3,000 titles and 3.5 million units sold. TCG’s booklist contains 17 Pulitzer Prize winners, including the recent Fairview by Jackie Sibblies Drury.

  • Creates strategic partnerships like the Global Theater Initiative (GTI), a relationship between TCG and the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. GTI strengthens, nurtures, and promotes global citizenship and international collaboration within the U.S. professional and educational theatre field.

  • Endows legacy award programs like the Alan Schneider Director Award which was established to honor Alan Schneider's contribution and commitment to developing freelance directors whose talent has been recognized in specific regions, but who are not known nationally.
